A Statue of....A Marshall Stack - 2009-10-04 18:06:04
<<< Previous - Why My Husband and I Are Such Geeks | Next - Random Links of the Weird; Some Hoaxes Make a Good Story >>>My brain is still trying to grasp this one. Even though I fully realize the iconic nature of the Marshall stack, this is kind of weird:
Marshall Full Stack Amp Statue
* No Rock Iconz collection is complete without one of these!
* Flawlessly sculpted.
* Your friends may think it's the real thing!
The officially licensed Marshall Full Stack (JCM 800 Series) Amp is a hand-numbered, polyresin, hand-painted, limited edition of 3,000 pieces. It's so flawlessly sculpted that except for its size at 7-inches tall, you'll think it's the real thing! No Rock Iconz collection is complete without one of these!
Price: $114.99
I should point out that I do like many of the statues of
rock icons (or "Iconz," ack) that this is amp is a companion for do actually look well made and nicely detailed. It's just that price for an amp just as an accessory - ouch.
Actually there are quite a few fun pop cultural things on that site that I'm making myself stay away from (too tempting, too expensive, etc.). But the Marshall statue is making me laugh.
...Having said that and then thought about it - I'll confess that I'd totally love to have a pair of computer speakers on my desk that look like mini Marshall amps. Something about
this size. Not that I'm going to bother - because this is yet another thing to be filed under No, I Don't Really Need It, But It's Fun to Think About. You know, like I sometimes think about how someday I'll do the entire interior of our home to resemble all the weirdness of the
Addams Family home (original cartoon
and tv show, in case you wondered). I think as long as we have a computer media room/living room Jon won't mind a bit, so that may actually happen someday...
